Eco Buzz Tours

A Personal Touch to Exploring Southern Arizona

Eco Buzz Tours isn’t just a business — it’s a passion project born from the idea that the best experiences happen when you feel like you’re out with a friend. Our tours are designed to help you responsibly enjoy the beauty of Southern Arizona’s wine country — from the rolling hills of Sonoita and Elgin to the charm of Patagonia — all while sipping great wine, riding in comfort, and supporting local businesses along the way.

We’re not trying to be the next party bus. This is a laid-back, good-vibes kind of ride. Think easy conversation, flexible schedules, scenic routes, and a true appreciation for the places we visit. Whether it’s a relaxing tasting flight at a quiet winery, a memorable lunch at a local spot, or an impromptu photo op with the sweeping mountain backdrop — your day is built around what you enjoy.

Meet the Buzz Behind the Tours

Barbara Mayer

Partner, wife, mom, grandma, nurse practitioner

The idea for Eco Buzz Tours came from my wife, Barbara — a Nurse Practitioner whose intuition and timing are pretty much always spot on. She spotted the all-electric Volkswagen ID.Buzz and instantly fell in love with its charm. That moment sparked an idea: what if we used this unique ride to offer tours that were just as fun, relaxed, and unforgettable? That was the beginning.

The Buzz isn’t just transportation — it’s part of the experience. With its wraparound windows, quiet ride, and retro-modern appeal, it invites people to relax, look around, and feel something different. For many of our guests, it’s their first time riding in an EV. And that’s exciting. If a day out in the Buzz helps shift a few hearts and minds toward electric, all the better.

Who's Driving?

Kendrick Mayer

Partner, husband, grandpa, Chief Buzz officer

That would be me — Kendrick. For over 20 years I worked in marketing, with the last 15 focused on helping local businesses thrive through SEO and digital strategy, often from my home office. It was rewarding work, but these days, I’m trading keyboard time for wheel time and loving every second of it. Meeting great people, sharing my love of Southern Arizona, and helping them have a memorable day — it doesn’t get much better than that.

I grew up right here in Tucson. Moved away for college in Colorado followed by 13 years in Portland, OR before coming home over 20 years ago. Tucson’s changed a lot since I was a kid, and I love what it’s become. The desert, the mountains, the culture, the wine scene — it’s a place worth sharing, and I feel lucky I get to do that.

It’s a Family Thing

(Including the Four-Legged Members)

Barbara and I are lifelong dog lovers. Years ago, she brought Lucy — a sweet white Chihuahua — into our lives, and later we became foster parents to Nina… who, let’s be honest, wasn’t going anywhere once we met her. They were our companions for many years, and losing them both within ten months in 2023–2024 was heartbreaking.

But life has a way of putting the right little soul in your path. That’s how Tuffy came to us — a tiny fawn Chihuahua recovering from a fractured pelvis and in need of a second chance. She had a rough start, but she’s resilient, and after a year with us, she’s thriving. These days, she loves hitting the road in the Buzz almost as much as we do.
